Describe your event in plain words and the Auto Builder helps you put the night together.
The Event Builder is a chat for planning a whole night. You describe the event (a wedding, a company party, your weekly pub night) and the Auto Builder suggests a run of show: trivia, karaoke, a tournament, a slideshow, a ticker, a poll, or a Sports Pick'em slate. You adjust it by chatting or by editing the list yourself.
Your work saves as you go. Close the tab or switch devices and pick the same session up later. When the plan is ready, Finalize event puts a real event on your calendar.
The usual way in is the Create page. Press Create in the menu, then Describe it. Type what the night is in What is the night? (at least 10 characters), pick a playbook if one fits, and press Assemble the night. The chat opens with your brief already sent.
The Build an event button on your dashboard and the Build an Event button on the Events page open that same Describe it screen. On a karaoke dashboard, the ... menu has Open in Event Builder, which starts a chat already filled in with that karaoke session's details.
To get back to a saved session, press Create, then Describe it. Your unfinished sessions are listed at the top under Pick up where you left off. Press one to reopen its chat. A new session only starts when you press Assemble the night.
A playbook starts the chat with a few activities and questions tuned to the event. There are seven: Wedding Reception (slideshow, trivia, karaoke, ticker), Corporate Party (slideshow, trivia, poll), Birthday Bash (slideshow, trivia, karaoke), Weekly Pub Trivia Night (trivia, ticker), Bar Trivia Night (slideshow, trivia, ticker), Paper Trivia Night (no phones) (trivia, ticker), and Pub Karaoke Night (karaoke and a ticker, with crowd-pleaser songs already suggested).
On the chat's own start screen, Start a new session begins with a blank plan, and the playbooks sit behind Start from a playbook.
A Wedding Reception, Corporate Party or Birthday Bash finishes as a private event (kept off your public page and follower notifications); untick Private event beside Finalize if you want it listed.
The builder reads your brief for clues, so specific words do real work. A pub example: 'Weekly trivia at Tony's Pub, Thursdays at 7. About 40 regulars, mostly 30 to 50, competitive but friendly. We have photos from last season. The owner says "the best night we ever ran was 80s theme". Crowd loves classic rock and country.'
From that paragraph: the word photos adds upload-photos and build-slideshow tasks to your to-do list. The sentence in double quotes becomes a quote slide when you build the slideshow. The music words steer karaoke song suggestions. The crowd details shape the follow-up questions and any trivia you generate.
A game-day example: 'Sunday game day Pick'em at the bar, NFL slate, wings special all day.' In a blank session, words like Pick'em and game day add a Sports Pick'em activity and a task to link a slate. The wings special is the kind of line that belongs in your ticker.
Put memorable one-liners in double quotes. Quoted lines become slideshow quote slides.
Names, dates, running jokes, and favorite songs all make better questions. A vague brief makes a generic event.
After you send the brief, the Auto Builder replies. It sketches a run of show, asks one question at a time, and sometimes offers tap-to-answer buttons under its reply. Tell it what to change in plain words. It can also set the date and time if you mention them.
Each Auto Builder reply uses a few Brain Credits, usually about 2. After its first reply, the message box shows the going rate. If your wallet is empty, or after 24 Auto Builder replies in one session, the chat switches to short built-in follow-up questions, which are free. You can always finish the event with the buttons.
The credit pill at the top shows your live balance and flashes each charge. Next to it you see how many credits this event has used.
Three things spend Brain Credits: Auto Builder replies, generating trivia questions, and Auto-tailor on a karaoke setlist. Generating questions usually costs 1 to 3 credits a batch. Every charge shows in the chat so you can see what you spent and on what.
Everything else is free: the built-in follow-up questions, the to-do list, photo pickup, building the slideshow, Suggest setlist, saving the schedule, and finalizing. The builder checks your wallet before a paid step. If you cannot cover it, you see the options to get more credits instead of a failed request.
Above the message box, a Next step strip always shows the one thing to do next. First it asks you to reply to the Auto Builder. Once there is a plan with trivia, it offers Generate questions. Then it asks for the date, start time, and length (Save schedule). Then it offers Finalize event, with a field for the event name. After that it shows Open event.
Next to the main button there is always a way to keep chatting. If your wallet is empty, that becomes Get Brain Credits.
The right side shows the run of show: every activity in play order. To add one, pick it from the list (Trivia round, Brainpardy board, Bingo, Lightning round, Bluff round, Karaoke, Pick'em, Tournament, Poll, Slideshow, or Ticker), type an optional name, and press Add. Press Configure on a game to change things like question count or board size. The x removes an activity and the rest renumber.
An activity's type is fixed once it is added. To swap a poll for a tournament, remove the poll and add a tournament.
Photos upload in a separate tab. The upload task's Open Media Uploader button opens your Media Library already tagged for this session. When you come back to the chat, the builder finds the new photos, ticks the task, and shows them in the Photos card. Press Refresh if they do not show.
Build slideshow then makes a real slideshow: one slide per photo plus one quote slide per quoted line in your brief. It works with photos only, quotes only, or both. The slideshow editor opens in a new tab so you can fine-tune it. Rebuild slideshow replaces the old one.
A karaoke activity can carry a suggested setlist. Suggest setlist is free and instant: it fills the list with easy-to-sing crowd-pleasers, keeps songs you already added, and uses the music styles from your brief.
Auto-tailor is the paid step. The Auto Builder reworks the list around your crowd and swaps weaker picks for better fits.
The setlist goes with the event. When the karaoke activity launches, the new karaoke session gets the setlist, the name, and the settings, and the KJ dashboard shows the songs in a Suggested setlist panel.
A Pick'em activity needs a slate. Press Link Pick'em and choose one of your recent Sports Pick'em sessions, then press Link. No slate yet? Open Sports Builder makes one in a new tab; come back and link it.
The builder links slates. It does not make the picks for you.
The builder keeps a to-do list and ticks items off as you finish them: send your brief, upload photos, build the slideshow, generate questions, seed a setlist, link a slate, set the date, finalize. It only lists what your event needs, so a plain trivia night has a short list. Many items have a button, like Open generator or Set the date, that takes you straight to that step. You can tick or untick items yourself, and your ticks stay.
The Project link at the top opens /host/event-builder/{id}/project. It sums up the session on one page: the to-do list, photos, questions, activities, schedule, and the last few messages. Use Continue in chat to go back, or Open event once it is finalized.
Finalize event needs at least one activity and a date and start time. It puts the event on your calendar and saves any generated questions to your question library.
It also makes each activity ready to launch. Generated questions go into the first trivia game. Ticker messages become a real ticker set; a ticker with no messages is dropped. A tournament gets a ready bracket setup. A karaoke activity carries its name, settings, and setlist. A linked Pick'em opens its slate.
Press Open event to see it. From there it works like any other event: players can RSVP, and on the night you launch each activity from the event page.
The Describe it screen on the Create page lists your unfinished sessions under Pick up where you left off. The chat's own start screen (/host/event-builder, or search Event Builder with Ctrl+K) lists all your recent sessions under Resume a recent session, with their status and Brain Credits used. Open any of them on any device and the chat picks up where you left off. Inside a session, New session takes you back to that list.
To throw away a draft, press the x on its card. This cannot be undone, and it only works on sessions you have not finalized.
Prefer to build it yourself? The Create page's Build it myself mode makes the same kind of event without the chat.
Generated questions you never finalize stay in the session. They reach your library when you finalize.
The Auto Builder suggests; you decide. Nothing goes on your calendar until you press Finalize event.
