Auto Assist & Brain Credits

Brain Credits

One wallet that pays for question generation, the Event Builder chat, and Auto grading of unclear answers.

What Brain Credits are

Brain Credits pay for the features that call Auto behind the scenes: writing new questions, the Event Builder chat, and, in an Auto Assist game, grading an answer that is too unclear to match by itself. Browsing questions, building and scheduling games, read-aloud, and running a night cost nothing.

Paid plans come with a monthly allotment that refills on the first of each month. The Free plan has no monthly allotment, but any plan can buy credit packs that top up the same wallet. You spend from your monthly allotment first, then from packs.

How the wallet fills and drains

Your wallet has two pools: a monthly allotment set by your plan, and a pack balance you can add to at any time. The monthly pool resets to your plan's allotment on the first of the month (UTC). The pack pool carries over: packs never expire and are not wiped by the monthly reset.

Every charge comes out of the monthly pool first and only dips into packs once the monthly pool is empty. That order means your plan's credits get used before the ones you paid extra for. The wallet never goes below zero.

One credit covers about 0.5 cents of Auto cost, so roughly 200 credits per dollar of real cost. Costs are rounded up to whole credits, and any charge is at least one credit.

See your balance, what you used this month, and the reset date under Host Settings, Brain Credits.

What spends credits

Generating questions, from the question tools or inside the Event Builder. Each reply from the Event Builder chat assistant, and its karaoke setlist tailor pass. Auto grading of a typed answer that is too unclear to match, in an Auto Assist game only; exact and close matches are free, and a Human Host game never sends an answer to Auto. The Generate Recap button at the end of a game. A quick quality check that runs when you save a question you wrote yourself. It runs only when you have credits; with an empty wallet the question saves without the check and nothing is charged.

Read-aloud, pacing hints, practice games, the instant setlist builder, building a slideshow from your photos, and the TV all spend zero credits. A game costs nothing unless it runs Auto Assist and a typed answer needs Auto to judge it, or you generate a recap. Name That Tune answers are always graded for free.

Before you run dry

Once you have used 80 percent of your monthly allotment, the Brain Credits row in the left menu (under Business) turns amber as a heads up. The Event Builder's own credit pill turns red when you are out, and it shows about what a chat reply costs before you send it.

Generation checks your balance before it starts. If you cannot cover it, the request stops before any model runs and shows you the upgrade and pack options instead. When the wallet is empty, the Event Builder chat falls back to its free scripted questions, unclear answers wait for you to grade by hand, and questions you write save without the quality check, so a night never stops for lack of credits.

  1. Watch the Brain Credits row in the left menu while you generate.
  2. When it turns amber, decide whether you need more before the monthly reset.
  3. Click it to buy a credit pack and top up the wallet right away, or upgrade your plan for a bigger monthly allotment.
  4. Wait for the first of the month if you would rather let the monthly pool refill on its own.

Unlimited plans

The top plans come with an unlimited monthly allotment. On an unlimited plan the wallet stops counting: every feature above runs without drawing down a balance, and the app shows the wallet as unlimited instead of a number. The amber warning and the empty wallet block never apply.

Credit packs land in the pack pool, which is spent after the monthly pool and never reset, so a pack you buy this month is still there next month.

A plan change updates your monthly allotment but does not wipe the credits you have already used this cycle, so a mid month change cannot grant extra credits after the fact.
