Run a recurring season so teams have a reason to come back every week.
A league is the retention layer above your one-off game nights. Instead of a fresh scoreboard every week, teams keep a season standings row that carries forward, so there is one table everyone is chasing. A tight table in week six is the reason regulars keep showing up.
You run your normal trivia nights the way you always do. Each night you attach to a league adds its result to the season table on its own, the moment the game finishes. There is no separate scoring step and no spreadsheet.
Every league has a public standings page at a short link, so teams can check where they sit between visits and new teams can see what they are walking into. You manage the whole thing from the Leagues dashboard at /host/leagues.
Open Leagues from Host Tools and start a new one. Give it a name, an optional season label like a quarter or a year, and pick how it scores. You can make it public so teams can find it and enter themselves, or keep it private and add teams yourself.
Placement scoring suits most rooms: it rewards showing up and keeps one blowout night from settling the season. Use cumulative when you want the table to show total points banked.
On the Teams tab you can type teams in directly. If the league is public, a team can also enter itself from the standings page by registering a saved team it owns or belongs to.
Teams do not have to be added in advance. The first night a team plays that you attach to the league, it joins the table automatically: a team that played on its saved team is matched exactly, and a team typed in at the game is matched by its name. Encouraging crews to play on the same saved team every week is the habit that makes this seamless.
Keep team names consistent week to week. A team typed in fresh each night is matched by name, so 'The Quiz Lords' and 'Quiz Lords' would count as two teams.
From the Nights tab, attach a game you hosted to the league. When that game finishes, its result rolls into the standings on its own. A game night belongs to at most one league, so a night feeds exactly one season table.
Only teams that are in the league score. A walk-in crew that never registered can play the night without touching the season table, so a one-off crowd does not distort the standings for the regulars in the race.
Every league has a public standings page at a short link (/l/ plus its code). The Standings tab shows each team's points, nights won, total score, and best finish, sorted so the leader is on top. The public page shows the same table and refreshes on its own after every night.
Put the link where regulars will see it: on the table tent, in your venue ticker, or on your host site. A visible race is what pulls teams back.
Copy the standings link from the league dashboard header. If the league is public, teams can sign themselves up from that same page.
Players get their own leagues page at /leagues, under Community in the menu. It lists every season their team is in, with the team's current place, points, nights played, wins, and best finish, so a regular can check the race between visits without hunting for a link.
The same page is how new teams find you. Public leagues are listed there to browse, and there is a code box for the leagues you keep private. A player picks one of their saved teams and enters it in a single tap.
This is the payoff for getting crews onto saved teams. A team that plays under its saved team every week is matched exactly, sees itself on the table, and gets a reason to come back next Tuesday.
Players need a saved team before they can enter a season. If a crew is not on one yet, point them at Teams first, then the league code.
Keep a league private and hand out the code when you want a closed season for your regulars rather than an open sign-up.
You can keep adding teams and nights while the season is active. When the season is done, complete the league. That locks the table and names the team on top as champion, and the public page shows the champion banner.
Start the next season as a brand-new league. Regulars keep their saved teams, so the same crews can pick up the chase in a fresh table.
Standings update automatically when an attached game night completes. You never tally anything by hand.
A night is scored exactly once, even if its completion is processed again, so a team is never double-counted.
Completing the league is the only step that closes the table and names a champion; while it is active you can keep adding teams and nights.
